About Ralph
Ralph began his
musical career at the ripe old age of five, when he performed for his
brother's fifth grade class. His mother was his first piano teacher
and after one year of lessons, shipped him off to another teacher for
further studies. Ralph studied piano through his junior year in high
school and began playing professionally when he was a senior. Since
then, he has performed from Las Vegas to Florida and points in
between. He continued piano studies through his sophomore year at
Baylor University in Waco. He has performed with several choirs from
elementary school through college and is currently a member of First Baptist
Woodway's Sanctuary Choir.
Ralph's love for gospel music began as a
child when his father frequently took the family to Ft. Worth to hear the
Stamps-Baxter Quartet. Childhood memories include hours around the
piano with his family singing the old gospel standards. By combining
his early gospel roots and his professional music career, he developed his
own personal style of playing and singing. Ralph's music is a unique
blend of Gospel, 50's Rock & Roll and Rhythm and Blues and is loved
by audiences of all ages.
Ralph's first CD "Songs from the Sanctuary" began in 1999 when his friend, Derin Landrum,
planted the seed (insisted) that he should begin working on his first gospel
album. Shortly after, Chris Wommack, Minister of Music at First
Baptist Woodway, delivered a message on "The Prayer of Jabez".
Ralph began daily prayers of "The Prayer of Jabez". Things
started falling into place leading to the inspiration for his "Songs
from the Sanctuary" album completed in late 2001.
In 2002, Ralph began working with lyricist Wesley Vowell, compiling a number
of new and exciting gospel songs. By the end of the year there were
enough selections for a new CD. The "Brand New Day"
project was completed in 2003 and "Down the Road" was completed in
2005. The Lord has truly
had His hand in the making of this CD--bringing talented musicians and
vocalists together to praise his name in song. It has truly been a
labor of LOVE.
As Jabez prayed-we hope you all are "Blessed Indeed".
